Boxing Tips for Hand Wraps
Executive summaries about Boxing Tips by : Michael Davidson
While the gloves are important in protecting against a broken hand, the hand wraps are vital as well. If done correctly, wrapping the hands before putting the gloves on can extend the lifespan of a boxer's hands for years.
Keep the Wraps Tight
The hand wraps are meant to provide support to not only the bones and tendons in the hand, but also to the wrist. The hand wraps are not effective unless they are appropriately tightened around the hands to provide adequate support.
Wrap Maintenance
Wash them regularly. Buy several sets of hand wraps if you are training several days a week and alternate to help extend the lifespan of the wraps. Boxers with smaller hands should be using wraps that are about 120 inches long. Fighters with larger hands require wraps that are 170 inches long or more.
